We instructed 26 3rd-year computer science students in technical skills that include server technologies, SMS, J2ME, and Android. We began by reinforcing our students' general Java skills before moving onto more advanced concepts and the fundamentals of mobile application design. To provide our students with real-world experience in mobile development, we distributed GSM USB modems (for SMS) and phones from Google Android and Nokia. Concurrent to the technical curriculum, we stimulated entrepreneurship through lectures, projects, local mentorship, and our business plan competition which offers seed money to the winners.
