AITI held a 3-week program at Strathmore University in Nairobi, Kenya that focused on smartphone technologies and entrepreneurship. 21 Kenyan students from multiple universities attended the course. The platform vehicle for the course was Android, which is available via multiple handsets in Kenya and in other African countries. The course introduced the students to technologies that will soon be popular as smartphones become affordable to the majority of individuals in emerging regions. The course centered around a group project that asked the students to create and demo a real-world smartphone application appropriate for the East African market.
